It’s tiring, isn’t it ?

Yesterday, after realising that there is a change in venue for the Outing for the patients at HCA, i realised that the proposal for outing @ WCP is not going to be used anymore. But, it is a good venue anyway.

Two volunteers, Jonathan and Mastura, came to brief us about what HCA Hospice Care is all about. It was good. Jacqueline came too. =) .

We went to Recce the Airport yesterday. Hmm, let me see who came, Henry, Theresa, YanLin, Huiying, XiuHui, David, Weiru, Ranson, Meshach, JiaHao, HuaHan. Did i miss out anyone? Shin and Cheryl went today. The rest have not made a trip there. I realised i left out zhengda . lols

It is tiring. Went back with heavy eyelids, but i know i have to complete my economics tutorial (realised it wasn’t needed in the end).

Today, before lesson starts, i bought one banana and one Nescafe Original. Supposed to give me energy and keeping me awake. Doesn’t seem to work. Anyway, the 40cents Banana broke while i’m peeling it and it dropped on the floor. 35cents gone. i ate the sweet 5 cents.

Due to completion of EC CA last week, this week, we had 4hrs before the next lesson starts. We went out of school. Went to Marina sq, to …makan =.= before going to <i don’t know where> for huahan to fix his guitar. We went back school, but weren’t late.

During our train trip back to school, we had discussions about religion. I have no idea how it started. Realised that Catholics are referred to as the “Mary de”. While protestants are referred to “Jesus de” . Yes, from this, you know it is very wrong. LOL. Wanted to explain to them alot of things, but ya, i know people won’t like it.

In Catholicism, Mary is the Mother of Jesus. Jesus is God. Mary is therefore the Mother of God. However Mary is never of a higher status that Jesus. Mary isn’t any God. Catholics don’t worship Mary. We ask Mary to pray for us sinners. Just like we ask saints to pray for us. We ask the Blessed Virgin to pray for us for she is so dear to Jesus. Mary and the Saints are our intercessors.

And yes. Many of you will ask, why is having Mary in our important ? She is our Spiritual Mother. Who is the humble woman who obeyed God ? <Luke 1:38>, Who is sinless ? Mary, daughter of Anna and Joachim.

“When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing near, he said to his mother, ‘Woman, behold, your son!’ Then he said to the disciple, ‘Behold, your mother!’ And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home” (Jn 19:26-27)

Ok, let us look at the Catholic’s “Hail Mary/Ave Maria”

<< Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. >>

This first part of the prayer in pink comes from <Luke 1:28> . Where Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and said, “Hail, full of grace, the lord is with thee”.

Now, let us look at the second part in orange. It is taken from <Luke 1: 39-45>. This part is where Mary travels to meet Elizabeth. The child in Elizabeth’s womb leaped with joy upon hearing Mary’s greetings. Elizabeth said, “Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb”.

Fruit of the womb = Jesus. And indeed, Mary is the chosen woman for God to humble himself and reincarnate through the Blessed Virgin’s Womb.

Now, let us look at the words in red. We ask Mary to pray for us. Yes, she is the Mother of our dear Lord.

Now let us look at the Magnificat.

Now, let us look at the Magnificat in Luke 1:46-55

The Magnificat

46 And Mary said,
“My soul magnifies the Lord,
47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
48 for he has looked with favor on the lowliness of his servant.
Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed;
49 for the Mighty One has done great things for me,
and holy is his name.
50 His mercy is for those who fear him
from generation to generation.
51 He has shown strength with his arm;
he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts.
52 He has brought down the powerful from their thrones,
and lifted up the lowly;
53 he has filled the hungry with good things,
and sent the rich away empty.
54 He has helped his servant Israel,
in remembrance of his mercy,
55 according to the promise he made to our ancestors,
to Abraham and to his descendants forever.”

Yes, i copied this from my earlier posts. haha.

Many of us will ask where do we go after we die. In Catholicism, we believe there is Purgatory, Hell and Heaven.

Why is this word Purgatory appearing?

“At heart every Christian believes in Purgatory, no matter how vehemently they might denounce it by word. This is evident from the prayers they say almost unconsciously for their deceased friends and relatives. There is scarcely a Christain funeral without prayer; it is a case of actions speaking louder than words.

If there is no such thing as Purgatory then what is the point of prayer for the dead? If a soul is in Heaven it does not need to be prayed for; if it is in Hell, prayer cannot help it.” Adapted from here.

Purgatory is in fact a state of temporal sufferings. Below explains purgatory (i forgot where did i hear it from). :

Imagine you played soccer in a dirty muddy field, your body is literally covered mud from head to toe. You saw this beautiful palace, free from dust/dirt. It was so clean that it sparkles. You want to enter the Palace but you realised how dirty you are. You decided not to enter.

This explains Purgatory. God is like the palace. we are like the soccer player. We feel unworthy because we are sinful people of God. We wouldn’t want to meet God, with ourselves not being cleansed.

Met a extremely extremely good question last wednesday.

Why the Rosary and is it just mere repetition of the Ave Marias ?

I don’t have a good answer. But probably is  good website to explain.

N.B  The religious part of this content is purely for explaination.

  1. Santiago says:

    Probably you know the Youtube video “May feelings”. Young students of Universities of Madrid say reasons pray the holy rosary. (in Spanish, with english subtitles)
    See it:
    It is one of the most watched videos on Youtube in May.
