Protestantism

Is Christianity really about just going to any church and saying,”Yes, i am a christian and i will be saved” ? Indeed, the devil’s smoke is among us. The fact that the mindset of “Christianity, yes any church nearest to my house, any church that others are attending” simply shows how people treat religion with a simple mind. Is Christianity really about any church created out of the founder(s) beliefs ? Is Christianity about the private interpretation of scriptures ?

Where in the Bible does it says “Sola Scriptura” or “Scripture alone” is the way to salvation ?  Matthew 15 condemns the tradition of the pharisees and not the tradition of Christ and the Church ! 2 Timothy 3:16 says scripture is profitable but it does not ask us to throw away tradition !

St. Paul instructs us in 2 Thessalonians 2:15 ” Therefore, brothers, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught, either by an oral statement or by a letter of ours.” If the bible is the sole rule of Christianity, during the period of time after Christ and before the invention of the printing press, where does the people’s faith comes from. The Bible ? When the Bible doesn’t even exist at that period if time ? If that is so, faith only comes after the invention of the printing press.

Yes, it was the Catholic Church that creates the Bible and not the Bible that creates the Church. The Council of Carthage, 397 A.D., through the guidance of the Holy Ghost, decides which are the canons in the New Testaments. It was the Church that puts together the divine-inspired texts.

Protestants adopt their own interpretation of bible. Which means I myself can set up a church (small c) tomorrow, call it “Real Church” or something, and start interpreting the bible in whichever way i want it to be. That is what alot of ‘churches’ do in Singapore. Well, for some, making profit seems to be their objective. =). In 2 Peter 3:15-16, it clearly states that those who interpret it privately will most likely interpret it wrongly:

“And consider the patience of our Lord as salvation, as our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, also wrote to you, speaking of these things as he does in all his letters. In them there are some things hard to understand that the ignorant and unstable distort to their own destruction, just as they do the other scriptures. “

I seriously implore people my age or anyone who is looking for a faith to guide their lives, to think carefully and study carefully the history of the faith and decide whether or not it can convince you that is the true faith of God. 🙂

Dr. Romano Amerio who is an expert theologian at the Second Vatican Council and is admired by Papa Benedict XVI said this:

“The setting up of the principle of mercy as opposed to severity ignores the fact that in the mind of the Church, the condemnation of error is itself a work of mercy since by pinning down error, those labouring under it are corrected and others are preserved from falling into it”.

It is only through the authority of the Catholic Church that we know for sure it is the true word of God. That is why St. Augustine, in the fourth century said:

““I would not believe the Gospel itself, if the authority of the Catholic Church did not move me to do so.”

All in all, God gave us freedom to choose which faith to follow. Islam, Buddhism, et cetera may be what you have chose. But remember one thing, “CHOOSE CAREFULLY”. Choose especially those that can convince you and not those that have no history behind them and themselves declaring as the true faith.

Benedicat vos omnipotens Deus, Pater, et Filius, et Spiritus Sanctus

    yeah, why not ! hahahahhahaha.

Because afterall to open your own “church”,

    you only need three things

    1) a bible (ok, the one without the deuterocanonical books)

    2) A small sum of money for building construction (actually i realise protestants don’t even need to build a church, they can just rent a space in an auditorium or a warehouse space)

    3) a business mind

    =)
