Prayer

Posted: April 27, 2008 by piusranson in Uncategorized

Went for novena last saturday. At Novena, this Old priest was saying, “We are Nothing is God’s eyes.” Do you know why humans, no matter what faith they believe in, pray (except Atheist) ??

Yes! Because we are Nothing. Don’t be proud. Yes, there are many proud people around. When we pray we are telling God, “God, without you i can do nothing”. It is very true. Isn’t it ?

But then again. God loves us. BUT we must never grow so proud to challenge him.

– Peace and Love be with you all

I got this from Vin’s dp. To me, it is a very emotional picture. Both happy and Sad. Don’t you people agree?

Up and up and up …

Have you heard about the rising cost in almost everything? Price of rice increases, price of oil increases. This increase, that increase. Stall owners at coffeeshops are rising the food prices even for a plate of Wanton Noodles. At a coffeeshop at tampines, they had raise the cost by fifty cents, with lesser noodles. However, there are still long queues. WHY  ?  That is because Singapore is a food haven. Employment rates are increasing. Isn’t it ?

Rising food prices = to higher priced food in Singapore Polytechnic Foodcourts = higher allowance.  Get it ?

This is sick.

Similarities between Islam and Catholicism

Posted: April 20, 2008 by piusranson in Uncategorized

Islam

Catholicism

Muslim women have their tudung

Catholic Nuns have their veils

When one Muslim greets another, they place their hands on their forehead

Have you seen Catholics bending down to kiss the Pope’s Fisherman Ring? Yea, same action

Muslim men have their Songkok, whether black or white.

Catholic clerics have their zucchetto, priest wears black, bishop wears purple, cardinals wear red, Pope wears white

Muslims greet one another by saying, Assalamuailaikum

Catholics (not all) greets one another by saying Peace be with you.

Muslims have a string or beads called Tasbih and is either 99 or 33 beads long

Catholics have a string of beads called the Rosary.

Muslims have Ramadhan, their fasting month.

Catholics have Lent.

In this week’s Catholic news, there is an article that draws my attention. This article is about the PAS(Party Islam SeMalaysia) Representative addressing Catholic’s concern on Religion. Presently in Malaysia, the use of the word “Allah” in forbidden in any religion outside of Islam. The PAS representative states that in Arabic, Allah means God. Allah comes from the word ‘Al Illah’, ‘Illah’ means something you worship. Al Illah means ‘the item you worship’. He states that Allah can be used in religions outside Islam as Allah simply means God.

In Malaysia, the use of the words ‘Assalamuailaikum (Peace)’ is forbidden outside Islam. But the PAS representative says, it is not a problem for Non-Muslims to use it, as it just means Peace be with you.

Accounting

Since the first lecture on the Principles of Accounting-PACC (not Principles of Accounts-POA), the subject gave me a very bad impression that i might not score in the Accounting Module. Probably this is not my type of subject. LOL. However, i did learn something today! Which is,

ASSETS = LIABILITY + OWNER’S EQUITY. UNDERSTAND?

In fact it took me quite sometime to literally digest the whole idea. Yes, i admit i am slow. =D. Assets is whatever you own, Liability is whatever is going out, maybe a individual or another company. Owner Equity is just purely the Capital. The Tutorial 1 worksheet was somehow, okay. Question 3 was misread by David, he thought we only find the answer after calculating everything, which was not right as we have to calculate part by part. okok, actually i don’t know what i am typing.

The Quiz was indeed draining all the brain juices. I won’t call it tricky but i call it Weird. Is it weird or wierd? Ahh nvm. At one part it says, So and so buy this Building Site. Why can’t they just say land! I  think i got a 95% or something. Was alright afterall.

I agree totally that our bags we carry to the Polytechnic is far more heavy than our Secondary school bag. The Notebook i bought from Sch, actually weights approx. 2.78 kg. Carrying this wasn’t at all an easy task, especially today. Vin, Shin and me (ok sorry, the “me” doesn’t rhymes), went to Popular@SP, to get our textbooks. I bought the Economics Textbook titled, “Economics for Today’s World”. It cost me 28.50 bucks. As a matter of fact, i bought 2. One for the Class Rep. He gave me 50 bucks, and i should pay him 21.50 bucks. Am i right? If i couldn’t even get this right, i think i rather quit my poly education. LOL. Thus i was actually carrying 1 x 2.78kg and two thick Economics Textbook. I have to carry that from the Popular to the Dover Stn, into the train, without a seat, standing and travelling all the way to Tampines, dropped off the train, board the bus, walked home. Life is bad. =D. But well, this is life.

And because of this Not-So-Good life, i have broken my chain of Daily Mass. In the past, i go to the Daily Mass, and the Eucharist was like something special that i have to take every single day. Now, the week passes very slowly, and i have to wait for a Sunday to come, to have the nourishment.

Hopefully my chain of going Novena for Novena at Novena will not be broken again. Really misses the Adoration of the Blessed Sacament.

I still remembered last saturday, how i explain to people about my views Catholicism and Protestantism. Yes, i am a traditionalist, however i don’t oppose to Modernism in the Catholicism. However, tradition would still be needed to balance off the Modernism in Catholicism. Christian Unity with the Protestants? Protestantism is Heresy. My previous posts would explain this statement.

The respectable Muslim Community have already surpassed the Roman Catholic Population, as reported by the Vatican. Again, this is of no surprise. Lets not talk about radical Muslims. Muslim Families inculcate their faith in their children since their birth. Everywhere i go, i see a pious Muslim, never did i see any muslim, who knows little or nothing about their faith. Tradition plays a big part in Muslim. Yes, Muslims are a group of people i respect alot.

Lets all hope we will do well for Accounting! =D

Deo Gratias!

Yes, school just started officially a few days ago on the 14th of april 2008. Well, the few modules that gave me a good first impression was Economics and Fundamentals of Marketing. Economics teacher was freaking lame. He tell jokes but nobody laughs. Other modules that sound boring to me are Statistic and Principles of Accounting. Yes, those with numbers, sounds like a repeat of Additional Mathematics.

Statistics = Saddistic , that is one equation for now. LMAO

Wednesday is the only day, that have only one tutorial.

In fact, i am at the library courtyard. Searching for books look difficult to me in the Library

Burial or Cremation ??

Posted: April 6, 2008 by piusranson in Uncategorized

I recalled some time ago, when my Grandfather passed away, the family members will be given a form, and the informant have to declare whether the deceased have chose whether to be buried or cremated or didn’t mention. LOL. He was cremated in the end.

From then on, i told myself, when i die, i want to be BURIED. Ok, i have made my choice. LOL. So, please do refer back here for evidence. =D

Honestly, i wonder why are coffins of the same shape? Why can’t coffins be round? LOL. Why can’t coffins be RED ?

Once again, i choose BURIAL/INHUMATION.

Our Lady & Islam

Read an extremely interesting article on : http://www.ewtn.com/library/mary/olislam.htm

But i shall only write the part which i found most interesting!

In the Most revered Holy Book of the Islam faith, the Qur’an, the Holy name of the Blessed Virgin Mary is mentioned no lesser than 30 times. No other woman’s name is mentioned. Among men, only  Abraham, Moses and Noah’s name is mentioned more than the Virgin. In the Qur’an, Mary is described as “Virgin, ever Virgin”. The Islamic belief in the virginity of Mary puts to shame the heretical beliefs of those who call themselves Christian, while denying the perpetual virginity of Mary.
