A Story with A hidden meaning

Posted: October 16, 2008 by piusranson in Mass, Roman Catholicism

Recently i saw this video on youtube about Apologetics Class. This Apologist was telling the students the following story which i thought was very meaningful !

The story goes something like this ~ :

Once, there is a woman who feels pain all over her body, everywhere she touches. She touched her head,”Ouch!” then, she touched her right earlob, “Ouch!” She went to visit the doctor. The doctor said, “Alright i shall check for you”. Within seconds, the doctor replied “There is actually nothing wrong with your body but just one thing … you have a broken finger”. 3

Why did the woman thought of visiting the doctor? Yes, because he is a “source of authority”. Just like in the Church. we have the Magisterium. We do interpret/assume/diagnose things regarding religion ourselves! Yes i am talking about the bible as well.

Is it the Church that created the Bible or is it the Bible that created the church ? Talking about this simply reminds me how easy it is to build a new “church”. Yes you simply need a bible. But the same people who build new churches even though they claim to be the ONE Church that Christ desires, took out the seven deuterocanonical books! Yes because it contradicts their faith.

Every man possesses a kind of true-self that thirsts for God. Just like how you cry out “O, My God”. Human tend to hide the true self and show the false self that Thomas Merton is talking about. This thirst of God requires people to SEARCH for the truth. How do you know if the church you attend is THE church of God? Yes, you have to SEARCH. Refusing to search for the truth simply tells alot about oneself. They don’t care.

“new churches” just follow their founder’s beliefs! No ?

I just read the news on catholic.org, they were talking about the current words for ending mass is “Ite, Missa Est”. I tell you, for the masses i have gone since the beginning of this year, none of them mentioned “The mass has ended”. It is simply, “Go in peace to love and serve the Lord”. I think the Singapore Archdiocese needs to be more…..hmm….Caring for the people. =)

Why?

Alright.  I have to admit that there are Solemn Novus Ordo Masses celebrated in the vernacular but very few. Don’t you agree? I think it is the Mass settings that allows priest, an opportunity to make it “unsolemn(sic)”. Some example of very unsolemn practices that resembles that of other religion, that the Novus Ordo allow are using water tubs as baptismal fonts? Receiving communion on hand ?!?! Using those cordless microphones to give homily walking around ? Female extraordinary communion ministers ?!?!

Some of these can be debated or argued but it did made us lose our Catholic identity or rather the Identity of the ONE Church that was established by Jesus himself. Receiving communion on hand. Yes it is okay because you are not receiving less of Jesus if you use you hand to hold him but but are WE being respectful in doing so ?

Female extraordinary ministers, you may ask why not? If i have an authority to forbid such, i would! Because the message you are telling people is that, yes Catholics now allow females to approach the altar. This gives people who want and desire the female priesthood, the female clergy to challenge the Church’s sacred authority. Since they allow female to “distribute” the eucharist why not allow female to celebrate sacred Mass?

I do believe that the extraordinary form do limit such pathways for innovation to occur. Low mass = little or no participation from the congregation ? How is it wrong ? We are not pleasing ourselves, are we ? Oh yes, i just remembered something but it is just a assumption because i do it myself in the past. I tend to associate whatever Pope St. Pius X says to the Society of St. Pius X. Yeah, St. Pius X is a nice man =)

But at the same time we pray for the Anglicans, the Eastern Orthodox, the SSPX, Calvinists, Presbyterians, Lutheran and the other Protestant denominations(though it looks impossible), to return to the ONE Church that he desires. Not church as in buildings =.=  but Church.

Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam !

Now now, THIS is what i call glorifying God and not building titanium churches or even having Catholic priest altering mass texts. I can even smell that incense just by looking at the picture. and NO! this is not an auditorium =)

Some of you might tell me …hey there is no need for stain glass church…awe inspiring architecture to glorify God. yes yes my friends. These evoke the sense of sacredness, solemness quietness which leads us to prayer and not the jump jump fun fun atmosphere. God is found in quietness. Want to find God amidst fast-paced songs? find God amidst songs with forceful beats? Go ahead and do it. I can’t stop you from pleasing yourself rather than God.

Always talking about “Christianity is a relationship with God” ? Yes precisely! it is not about a fuzzy feeling that creates the relationship. It is about a God-man-God communication in silence of cause.

Now and then,  i will ask others, “Do you like protestants trying to CONVINCE you to go to their church? what would your respond be if they ever approach you again”. Most of them say they will scold them, punch them and whatever you can think of. haha. Normally to proselytise, they will use the same kind of tactics like, “eh…come to my church la…very fun de…meet alot of friends de.” OR ” Hey want come barbeque this sunday? ” They wont even tell you it is church -related! =S

Anyway didn’t intend to blog. But after browsing through Ian’s blog which shows this Eucharist and Missal picture which proves that flickr does have damn good pictures. I went to find. Initial search wasn’t very Good but i continued searching for those posted by religious. Ah ha! Just the right one for my blog. haha.
